How to use MandoCreator

March 29, 2022 By

The first time you open the creator, you are greeted with a blank armor template, some icons on the left, some boxes on the right, and a droid by your feet to accompany you along the way. He is a bit shy, but at its core, he is just a little guy.

MandoCreator offers over 140 different parts, allowing for more combinations than there are people on earth. You can select these parts in the armor menu on the right, which can be opened and closed with the little red icon in the top right corner.

You can also click on armor pieces directly to bring up their color picker, but the armor menu gives you full control. To reuse a color on multiple parts, you can save it in one of the eight swatches just to the left of the color picker, either by right-clicking (on desktop) or holding (on mobile).

To save a custom color Right-click (Desktop) tap and hold (Mobile) on any of the swatches on the left.

Once you are happy with the left side, you can copy all the settings over to the other side by clicking the red “mirror” icon. This of course only works for parts that have a left and right side, like Earcaps, Shoulders or Chest plates. If you don’t like your changes, you can undo them with the “undo” and “redo” buttons just below your Mando’s feet.

Click the red mirror button to copy some parts and colors to the left/right side.

If you want to try out a different part but you already modified the current one, don’t worry. All your settings stay where they were, if you decide to go back. Nothing will be lost. You can even reload the page and your setting stay.

To share your creations with your friends, we offer the options. The JPEG download does what it says on the tin and saves the image on your device. If your browser supports it, you can also use the Share button to directly post the image to your socials without downloading it first. The SVG download is the only one that allows you to reupload it later and continue working on it. You can also send the SVG to someone else and let them modify it further. The SVG also works with vector-capable programs like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer.

Download the SVG file to further edit either in your own software or re-upload and continue editing in MandoCreator.

Lastly, and this is perhaps the most important step, bring your creation to life. There is nothing more amazing to us than to see a MandoCreator concept next to its real-life realization. So please build your armor, post a comparison picture and be sure to tag us in it! You can find us @mandocreator on all socials.
