The Archive - Part I

"Are you out of your mind?" The furious Thrandoshan almost crushed the table with this fist.

"Calm down, Zyk. Let the girl talk."

"What else do you want to hear? She has clearly gone mad. An imperial facility, and the archive at that! It's crazy!"

"No no, I want to hear Wando's plan."

The man in the pilot's uniform raised an eyebrow, piercing her with his stare. Despite not having controlled anything larger than a lawn mower in over a year, Kanta Selogia still wore his uniform every day. During a terrible accident, he lost his right eye and the left one was injured. Since then he wore a cybernetic monocle to enhance his eye sight, but it was clear pretty quickly that he would never fly again.

"Well," Wando needed a moment to find the right words to say. Zyk's angry face distracted her.

"I got this, little one." Her older brother Haladin laid his hand on her shoulder, stepping next to her.

"No, I am fine." She pushed his hand away and stepped closer to the table. Her red hair was as furious as her mood. Haladin always treated her like a child, but she was very well capable of speaking for herself.

"The Republic abandoned us, and the Empire has forgotten us. But once this war ends, they will come back. Even now, every once in a while they send troopers here to check on us. If we could make them forget about us for good, we would finally be free of their control."

"Yeah, because we are dead!" Zyk shook his head in disbelief.

"Shut it, Lizard boy." Ji-To appeared in the door frame. "Sorry I'm late. Have I missed anything?"

"Yes, Wando wants us all to kill ourselves." Zyk summarized.

"I wasn't talking to you, Zyk." The Thrandoshan only replied with a grunt, as Ji-To, the former imperial Trooper, turned to Wando. His face had grown old, but his eyes were still wary and watchful.

"She was saying..." Haladin began, but Ji-To interrupted him.

"What, has she lost her voice? It was she, who called me here, if I'm not mistaken."

"It was." she agreed, with an angry look at her brother. "I want to make sure, the Empire doesn't find us here after they take their eyes to other things besides the rebel alliance."

"Alright. But how do you want to do that? Send them a message assuring that Galgola is not inhabited and they do not need to come check?"

"She wants to go to Coruscant."

"To the archive? Well, I understand your concern, Lizard."

"See?" Zyk saw himself confirmed, even ignoring the name-calling. "Finally someone who understands me!"

"Suppose just for a second, Galgola were to be deleted from the imperial Astro-Navigation Vault. How would that get us off all the smaller ships in the galaxy?"

"I've done some digging on how the Empire distributes information to their fighters", Wando explained. "It seems, there is some long range transmission between Coruscant and each Star Destroyer. Whenever this signal is sent out, the Destroyers synchronize their records with the vault. So if we manage to trigger this signal, all Destroyers everywhere will delete us from their maps as well, and over time we will slowly vanish into oblivion."

"I think, it's worth a try." All eyes turned to Kanta. Zyk's face turned all shades of brown.

"A try?! There is no try. Before we even get to the surface of Coruscant, we will be killed, old man!"

"Watch your split tongue!" It was no secret that Ji-To couldn't stand Zyk, even if it meant, he had to agree with Kanta Selogia, the pilot who dropped out of the sky. There weren't many people on Galgola's many moons that Ji-To could stand, but Wando was one of them. Still, even if he didn't like them, the people around him were his new family in a macabre kind of way.

"You were one of them, Trooper." Zyk gesticulated wildly. "Tell her, how stupid this idea is."

"The archive is heavily guarded, that is true. Are you sure, you know, what you are getting yourself into, Wando?"

"Not really." she confessed. "But I know, what I am getting us out of."

"Good answer, little one. I don't know about you guys", Haladin added with a stare at Zyk, "but I'm in."

"I think it is possible, too." Kanta confirmed.

"Just the five of us? No chance." Ji-To shook his head wildly. "But if we can get a few more people, we might still be able to slip by their security."

"Unbelievable. I am surrounded by Suicidals."

"Just knock it off already. If you don't want to come along, then just leave it, but spare us your complaints, will you?"

"You know what? That is exactly what I am going to do. But don't expect me to cry over your dead bodies when you get back in a box."

Muttering under his breath, the Thrandoshan left. Ji-To slammed the door behind him.

"So, little one. How do we get to Coruscant?"

"We will need a few things", Wando started. "We will need an imperial ship for cover. Once we reach the surface, we can pose as storm troopers to enter the facility."

"And how do we reach the archive? It is buried deep behind enemy lines."

"I was hoping, you could tell me that", Wando confessed, giving Ji-To her innocent smile.

"Great." he replied sarcastically. "Well, I will need time for that."

"You have that time", Haladin promised. "First we will need to find an imperial ship. Where shall we find that?"

"I might be able to help you with that." It was Kanta's voice.
